Floof is one of our original chickens. She is a white cochin, and one day she wasn’t feeling so good. We took her in, cleaned her up, and kept her inside for a few days. She was getting lonely, but wasn’t ready to return to her coop. We put her with the baby ducks, and has remained with them ever since. She goes out with everyone during the day, but at night, she returns to her duck pen where she is quite happy.
She has also proven to be a wonderful surrogate mother to our baby chicks! When they move out of the brooder, they can always find warmth under her feathers!
R/T and Princess Hellcat are our porcelain d’uccle bantams. As fierce as her name is, Princess is very dainty and sweet and R./T protects his flock well! We hope they will bring us some more porcelains in the future.
Kylo Hen is one of the first baby chicks to grow up on our farm. She is a black sex link and lays some beautiful brown eggs. She has a great personality and is always up for a snuggle.
Arby came to us from a friend of a friend’s flock. We were going to just foster him until he could find a new home (he was a bit noisy for his previous home), but he has such a great disposition and he is so gorgeous we decided to let him join our flock permanently! His name was Roast Beef, and that was a bit of a mouthful, so we shortened it to RB, and well, we all know the cowboy hat establishment that serves roast beef sandwiches, so he is now called Arby!
These two are our mille fleur d’uccles. The one on the left is called Momma Mille because she was our first successful broody hen.
We call her La Soeur de Mille, as she is Momma Mille’s “sister” (we have no idea if they are actually related).
